Photography’s role within printmaking has expanded the definitions of print through its diverse use in a range of printmaking processes. Rather than threaten the future of printmaking, photography and the development of new media has provided artists with exciting new possibilities to extend their printmaking practices. The progression of technological processes surrounding photography and the resulting conceptual developments have opened up the applications of printmaking, taking it far beyond the space of the gallery.
For almost 50 years Edinburgh Printmakers has supported artists to expand the practice of fine art printmaking. At the heart of our business is the provision of a printmaking studio, a place where artists share knowledge, expertise and creativity, researching and developing excitingly fresh artwork in print. Our artists produce wonderfully original, engaging works of art that we are proud to exhibit in this member’s show.
